Vehicle Description Willys-Overland Motors produced the Jeepster from 1948 to 1950 in response to a need for a civilian passenger automobile.
With its simple slab-sided design reminiscent of World War II utility vehicles, this jaunty two-door open car was envisioned as the sports car for veterans.
Features that cost extra in other cars were standard for this model, and there was a new instrument panel and redesigned front end with a V-shaped grille.
Total Jeepster production:
only 19,132 cars.
This sporty convertible has a polished black exterior with red belt molding that is simply striking.
There are five new whitewall tires featuring hub caps with bright trimmings, and the spare is a continental-style rear mount.
To add to the dramatic effect, gleaming chrome bumpers, wind wings and plastic side curtains truly stand out.
Topping it off are the red vinyl seats, red carpets, glove box and sun visor.
Less dramatic visually but just as important is the working heater for when the weather is not so cooperative.
Our VJ-3 is ready to go with an 104-inch wheelbase, Ross cam and lever steering, single transverse leaf spring suspension in the front and semi-elliptic leaf springs in the back.
The rebuilt engine is a Go Devil 4-cylinder 134.
1 cubic inch, producing 60 hp at 4,000 rpm.
The transmission is a 3-speed manual with factory overdrive with rear wheel drive for a fun, reliable ride.
With only 8,065 original miles on the odometer, this bold Jeepster is ready for the road.
