7 Bedford, OH Bedford, OH Full-time Full-time $18 - $20 an hour $18 - $20 an hour Bedford Municipal Court is hiring an Adult Probation Officer responsible for the supervision of a full caseload.
The Adult Probation Officer reports directly to the Chief Probation Officer, Clerk of Courts/Court Administrator, Presiding Judge, and Judge.
This position enforces all orders handed down by the court.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
General intake of defendant information Conduct personal interviews of defendants Conduct presentence investigations as ordered by the court and prepare reports Schedule community service and placement Review and issue driving privileges Provide ongoing supervision to defendants Monitor defendant's progress and if necessary, make adjustments to probation Investigate violations of probation and initiates the appropriate actions Maintain statistical information Provide oral input while present at violation or status hearings Meet with supervisor to discuss case activities as need arises Escort defendants from the courtroom to the Probation Department as needed Conduct a thorough but brief inquiry into income and monitor payment history Answer incoming calls, determine the nature of the call, and provide information Cover the Chief Probation Officer's duties when the Chief Probation Officer is not available Administer observed urinalysis to defendants QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

Must pass criminal background check.
Must have valid Ohio Driver's License.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.
A.
) from an accredited four year college or university; or an Associates degree from an accredited two year university with two years related experience and or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, and interpret court decisions.
Ability to write reports clearly with good language usage and an excellent grasp of the rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure.
REASONING SKILLS Ability to define issues, collect information and establish facts, draw appropriate conclusions and provide solutions if asked to do so.
HUMAN RELATION SKILLS Ability to interact with witnesses, traffic defendants, and criminal defendants in an even tempered, patient and courteous manner.
Ability to maintain an appropriate and professional demeanor.
